Giving pre-loved books a second life and inspiring a reading culture in Hong Kong since 2009.

About Us

Founded in 2009, Read-Cycling is one of Hong Kong’s few charities dedicated to giving used books a second life.
We work with schools, corporations, and communities to make reading accessible, sustainable, and joyful.

Our Work

Give Books a Second Life

We collect, sort, and re-donate quality used books through charity sales and community programs.

Promote the joy of reading

We host reading-related projects, author sessions, and creative cultural events across Hong Kong.

What We Do

PPO Library

A community reading room built from a warehouse.

PPO Library stocks over 20,000 quality used books for all ages and interests.
Books are sold at around one-third of their original price — all proceeds support our Free Books Programs for local communities.

– Unit A, 19/F, Success Industrial Building, 17 Sheung Hei Street, San Po Kong, Kowloon
– Open: Thursday – Saturday | 1:00–6:00pm

Free Books for NGOs & Schools

Books should be within everyone’s reach.

Schools and NGOs are welcome to visit PPO Library and choose as many books as they need — completely free.
In 2019–2020, over 60 institutions participated, receiving more than 15,000 Chinese and English books.

Book Trip

Books that travel — and bring joy along the way.

Through our Book Trip Program, less-privileged families and young book lovers can build their own home libraries using donated “Green Reading Coupons.”
Together, we bring stories, knowledge, and imagination to new readers.

Cultural Events

Reading that connects, inspires, and grows.

We organize 300+ creative reading events — from author talks to multimedia performances — with over 60 sessions co-hosted by local schools.
Every project aims to make reading part of Hong Kong’s everyday life.

Questions?

Every question brings us closer to sharing more books, more stories, and more love.

Absolutely!
We’re always happy to receive pre-loved books and help them find new homes.

Check our Book Donation Guide to see what types of books we accept and how to donate.

Yes.
Before bringing your books, please review the donation criteria to ensure they meet our collection standards.
This helps us better manage warehouse space and serve more donors efficiently.

Sorry, we currently don’t provide pickup service due to limited resources.
We encourage donors to drop off books directly at our PPO Library.

  • Unit A, 19/F, Success Industrial Building, 17 Sheung Hei St, San Po Kong

We make sure every good book finds a new reader — through several ways:

  • Charity Sale: Quality used books are sold at about one-third of their original price at events like Bring A Book & Share and open days.

  • Re-donation: Schools and NGOs can freely select books that match their members’ interests.

  • Book Trip Program: Students and families from underprivileged communities can pick their favorite books for free.

Every book shared carries a new beginning.
